Beschreibung

Cerium(III) 2-ethylhexanoate is a mesoporous material that is synthesized by high temperature hydrothermal synthesis. It has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties in vitro assays. Cerium(III) 2-ethylhexanoate has a peroxide decomposition temperature of about 200°C and has the ability to release oxygen at moderate temperatures. The synthesis method of this compound includes a radical chain reaction, which can be employed for other materials with similar physical properties. The luminescent property of cerium(III) 2-ethylhexanoate makes it useful as an indicator in in vivo studies. The activation energies for the oxidation of cerium(III) 2-ethylhexanoate are seen to be higher than those for iron oxide nanoparticles.
