Product Information

Name:
1,4,5,6-Tetrahydroxy-7,8-diprenylxanthone
Description:

1,4,5,6-Tetrahydroxy-7,8-diprenylxanthone is a prenylated xanthone that inhibits the growth of candida albicans and other fungi. It also inhibits the production of nerve growth factor (NGF) in experiments with rat brain cells. 1,4,5,6-Tetrahydroxy-7,8-diprenylxanthone has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in cell culture studies and in animals. This compound also has antifungal activity against candida albicans and other fungi. 1,4,5,6-Tetrahydroxy-7,8-diprenylxanthone also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes. This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme complex with the enzyme erythrocyte membrane protein thymidylate synthase required for DNA synthesis and cell division.
