H-Cys(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Resin is a bifunctional inhibitor that binds to the active site of HIV protease. It inhibits the protease activity of HIV and prevents the cleavage of polyproteins into functional proteins. H-Cys(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Resin has been shown to inhibit both the NS3 and NS5A proteases in hepatitis C virus (HCV) and is a potent inhibitor of HCV RNA replication. This compound has also been shown to have antiviral activity against influenza A virus, human rhinovirus, and dengue virus. H-Cys(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Resin binds to the catalytic domain of these viruses through hydrogen bonding interactions with amino acids important for catalysis.
