Description

(+)-Lariciresinol is a bioactive phenolic found in plants. It has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against human cancer cells and was able to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential. (+)-Lariciresinol binds to an enzyme complex that is involved in the production of infectious diseases, including HIV-1, influenza virus, and other viruses. The mechanism of action for this inhibition is not fully understood but may involve binding or formation of an enzyme-substrate complex. This compound also inhibits the polymerase chain reaction by interfering with DNA synthesis.
