Description:
2-Methyl-5,7-dihydrothieno[3,4-d]pyrimidine is a heterobicyclic compound that is a member of the thienopyrimidine family. It has been shown to be a strong organosulfur transfer agent and an effective catalyst for the synthesis of phenolic compounds. 2-Methyl-5,7-dihydrothieno[3,4-d]pyrimidine can be synthesized from toluene by a phase transfer reaction with cinnamyl acetate and chlorine. The experimental synthesis method was first reported in 1949.
