2-Methyl-4,4,4-Trifluorobutyric Acid is a carbamoyl amine that belongs to the class of carboxylic acid. It is used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. 2-Methyl-4,4,4-Trifluorobutyric Acid has been shown to be an effective leukotriene antagonist and has been shown to have antiallergic properties. This drug also blocks the synthesis of leukotrienes B and C (LTB) and reduces allergic reactions caused by histamine release from mast cells. 2-Methyl-4,4,4-Trifluorobutyric Acid can also be used in asthma therapy as it has been shown to decrease bronchial reactivity.
