Quinine sulphate is an antimicrobial that is used to treat infections caused by the syncytial virus. It has been shown to be active against a wide range of microbes, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Quinine sulphate binds to the DNA of these microorganisms and inhibits their ability to replicate. This drug also has high resistance as it is not easily deactivated by enzymes in the body. The pharmacokinetic properties of quinine sulfate are good, with a half-life of about 12 hours in humans. It is excreted unchanged in urine and feces, so it has low toxicity on the skin or gastrointestinal tract. Quinine sulfate can cause high values on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
