β-Hydroxyisovalerylshikonin
Synonyms:

Description:

β-Hydroxyisovalerylshikonin is a natural compound that is found in the roots of the plant Sophora flavescens. It has been shown to have anti-tumor properties, as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects. β-Hydroxyisovalerylshikonin has been shown to induce apoptosis in various cancer cells including HL60 cells, K562 cells, and 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. It also reduces human serum triglyceride levels, which may be due to its ability to activate transcriptional regulation. In addition, β-Hydroxyisovalerylshikonin has been shown to possess physiological function and basic structure similar to those of mammalian heme proteins.
