cGMP-dependent kinase inhibitor peptide is a protein that inhibits the activity of cGMP-dependent kinases. This inhibitor binds to the active site of these enzymes and prevents them from phosphorylating proteins on serine and threonine residues. The inhibition of these two enzymes can lead to cell death by oxidative injury, neuronal death, or cancer cell death. cGMP-dependent kinase inhibitor peptide has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice by inhibiting cyclase activity in cancer tissues. It also blocks the proliferation of cells that have undergone cardiac injury, such as papillary muscle cells.
