Apolipoprotein C-I is a protein that belongs to the group of apolipoproteins. It has been shown to have inhibitory properties against LPS-induced inflammatory response in humans and to inhibit atherosclerotic lesion formation in mice. Apolipoprotein C-I also inhibits transcriptional regulation of genes involved in the inflammatory response and neuronal death, as well as phase transition temperature, which may be used for diagnosis purposes. Apolipoprotein C-I has been shown to have potential use as a biomarker for diseases such as leukemia, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and HIV infection.
