1,2,3-Tri-O-methyl-7,8-methyleneflavellagic acid is a natural product found in the bark of Camptotheca acuminata. It has potent cytotoxic activity against a variety of cancer cells and has been shown to inhibit the growth of mammalian cells. The cytotoxic effects are thought to be due to inhibition of RNA synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
