Product Information
Butylidenephthalide is a chemical compound that has been shown to have anticancer activities. It activates the apoptosis pathway and inhibits the synthesis of DNA, proteins, and lipids. Butylidenephthalide induces cell death by activating the caspase-dependent pathway and inhibiting the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I. It also shows anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in macrophages. This molecule also has shown inhibitory effects on angiogenesis, which is important for tumor growth.
Butylidenephthalide can be used as a precursor for synthesizing polymers with different properties, such as polyesters or polyamides. The polymerization process starts with the free radical addition of butylidenephthalide to an electron-deficient double bond followed by radical coupling reactions between two molecules of butylidenephthalide. The resulting polymer is a linear chain of repeating units with alternating butyliden
