Description:

8-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (8-HETE) is a metabolite of arachidonic acid. It is produced from the metabolism of arachidonic acid by cytochrome P450 enzymes, and has anti-inflammatory properties. 8-HETE is used as an analytical reference standard for HPLC analysis and as a research and development tool for screening for bioactive compounds. 8-HETE may be used to study inflammatory responses in the body and has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, IL-12, TNFα, IFNγ, and MCP1.
