Description:

(R)-(+)-Bay K 8644 is a potent inhibitor of potassium and chloride channels. It also inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and catechols, leading to increased levels of these neurotransmitters in the brain. (R)-(+)-Bay K 8644 has been shown to enhance the contractility of cardiac muscle and increase blood pressure by activating L-type calcium channels. This compound forms hydrated hydrogen bonds with water molecules, making it suitable for use as a disinfectant or as a component in hypochlorite solutions. (R)-(+)-Bay K 8644 has also been used in the production of nonlinear optical crystals and as an electrode material.
