(2R)-2-[(3S,10S,13R,14R,17R)-3-Hydroxy-4,4,10,13,14-pentamethyl-2,3,5,6,7,11,12,15,16,17-decahydro-1H-cyclopenta[A]phenanthren-17-yl ]-6-methylhept-5-enoic acid is a natural product that has been isolated from the plant Rhodiola rosea. It has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties in vitro and in vivo. It also exhibits cytotoxicity against human cancer cells with IC50 values of 3.4 µM for A549 lung carcinoma cells and 1.1 µM for HeLa cervical carcinoma cells. This compound is an HPLC standard used as a reference material for quality control of analytical standards or research and development materials.
